A billboard is a large outdoor advertising structure typically found in high traffic areas such as alongside busy roads. Billboards present large advertisements to passing pedestrians and drivers. Typically showing large, witty slogans and distinctive visuals, billboards are highly visible in the top designated market areas.
The illustrator who painted most of these Budweiser billboards was Michael Dolas. He was an amazing talent who knew Norman Rockwell and J.C. Leyendecker.
I've just written an article on him for Illustration Magazine (July 2014), for anyone who is interested.
Lastly, I am currently seeking a billboard image (by the same artist), as I would like to restore the original artwork (in my possession) to its former glory.
